Build, Program, Go

Creating a MINDSTORMS robot is challenging -- but not too difficult -- with an illustrated step-by-step booklet and software showing the way. The booklet gives you instructions for building a basic "Quick Start" robot only, which is an easy introduction to the MINDSTORMS experience. This robot took our two adult testers about 30 minutes to build and 30 minutes to program. After that, they spent a lot of time just playing with their creation and testing its abilities.

Once you master the basics of MINDSTORMS, you'll need to use the included software to get instructions for more advanced creations. You can also use the MINDSTORMS web site to find instructions for many other robots, or you can create robots on your own. I already owned a original 60GB model that had PS2 backward compatibility. I was planning on getting another BD player for my bedroom. I was considering the new Samsung players when this was announced. It's cheaper and it plays games plus it has a HDD. It was a no-brainer for me. The PlayStation 3 is far and away the best console or for that matter Blu-Ray player you can currently get for its price range. There are many advantages to the 360 and the Samsung BD players, however if I had to have one without the others, my honest and objective recommendation is the new PS3.

Like I've said it's a great bargain for a great system, but it is not without its shortcomings.

-No PS2 Backward compatibility. (important to me but not everyone)
-No Netflix (360 has Netflix and so do the Samsung BD players) (also, important to me but not everyone)
-Backup Utility is awkward (nobody uses FAT32 format anymore and it's actually a process to even format a HDD that way) (You can do it with Swissknife though)
-Online play isn't as good as 360's(but it IS free and is being improved even as I type this...)
-No mic jack on controller (Bluetooth Headsets are not as easy, so people don't bother. The result is a lot less people are not talking in multi player games. A plus side to this is that you don't have to listen to a bunch of 13 year olds screaming the N-word and insulting your mom).

I hope I didn't complain too much about the system it really is a great machine and the best deal out there.

We have had this slide for about a week now and it is so much fun. My husband and two children ages 11 and 5 have been playing on it every day. It is definitely big enough for adults too. There are two regular slides and one tunnel type slide that leads to the pool. Each slide has a sprayer above it so not only do you get wet on your way down, but it creates a nice puddle of water at the end for a big splash. We love this toy. Having siad that however, there are a couple of downsides. First it is heavy so you will need more than one person to set it up and roll it up when you are ready to put it away.

Second, the pool deflates also when you turn the blower off, so you always have to refill it before playing, although I have found it takes only about 20 minutes with the water hose. Other than those two things, this slide is fantastic. I purchsed it when Amazon was selling it for $499. Immediately after my purchase Amazon listed it from Target for $699 and now it is selling for $999. I don't think, even though this is a great slide, that I would pay that much money for it. Look for a better bargain, and if you can find it then I would say definitely go for it.

It was about 1/2 the price of my LowePro bag. Its very well designed with lots of compartments, padding, external straps and quality materials. It holds everything that was in my other bag and I still have more room. I've got a Canon 20D with BGE2 battery grip, 3 zoom lenses (one a telephoto), a Canon 580EX flash, a Slik mini tripod, lens hoods for all the lenses, and a large assortment of filters for all the lenses all inside the main compartment. External compartments hold everything else like spare battery packs, chargers, cables, etc. Its got straps on the bottom to carry my tripod which my old bag didn't have. Its got other straps for carrying all kinds of stuff. And I carry bag this much comfortably. The one thing that the LowePro bag had was an all weather cover that could be zipped out to cover the bag in bad weather. Never used it anyhow so whats the point? The LowePro goes to E-Bay!
